Editing “Let The Dead Stay Dead”

A writing project I am currently engaged in is the editing of my third thriller, “Let The Dead Stay Dead.” I found it quite fascinating to return to this manuscript which had been put on the back burner in October 2012. You may recall that I had written the first 50,000 words for “Let The Dead Stay Dead” during NaNoWriMo of 2011.

Editing Your Manuscript

I have been an avid fan of the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo as it is popularly called since I first took part in this annual writing competition in 2009. After that I have successfully completed NaNo, for short, in 2010, 2011 and more recently in 2012. In essence, this means I have written 50,000 words every November for what we call our NaNoNovel, for the last four years on the trot.

Write In A Rush, Edit At Leisure

Guess what? I haven’t looked at my NaNo 2010 effort since  I finished the required 50,000 words to qualify as having completed NaNo successfully. I find that editing and polishing your writing take much more time and effort than writing the first draft. I am sure this must be your experience too. As I have learnt over the short time, I have started writing in earnest ” Write In A Rush, Edit At Leisure”.

Editing Your Book

If you thought writing your book was tough, you don’t know what editing can be like!  It’s tough too- because there is always so much scope for improvement in our writing. Editing helps make our writing more interesting- and readable!
